How is Sustainable Aviation Fuel Made?

Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is produced through various methods, including converting biomass, waste oils and other renewable energy feedstocks into an alternative fuel source suitable for aircraft use. Biorefineries use different processes including hydroprocessing, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and alcohol-to-jet conversion to produce SAF fuel.

These processes typically involve the use of advanced technologies and catalysts to convert raw materials into high-quality fuel while minimizing environmental impact. All of these methods require reactors, distillation columns and other ASME Section VIII process vessels, as well as storage tanks, that Tate Metalworks is uniquely suited to provide.
