Chemical Storage Tanks & Pressure Vessels

Specialty chemicals is a major segment of the larger chemical industry. Specialty chemicals are not the end products themselves, but they enhance the performance, safety, and sustainability in the products we use every single day. From the personal care products we use at home, to paint and coatings, the electronics that power our devices to the pharmaceuticals that keep us healthy.\

For over 50 years, Tate Metalworks has delivered reliable, high-quality storage tanks, ASME pressure vessels and custom fabrication solutions to meet the unique demands of specialty chemical storage and processing.

Reliable Chemical Industry Solutions: Tanks, Vessels, Reactors & More

Specialty chemical manufacturers focus on formulating, blending, or synthesizing the more complex and customized chemicals from the raw materials sourced by the chemical industry.

Formulating Tanks:

Formulating is the process of combining multiple ingredient stabilizers, solvents, or dyes to create a finished product with certain performance characteristics. Common tank types include:

  • Raw Material Storage Tanks
  • Feed Tanks
  • Mixing Tanks
  • Batch Reactors
  • Slurry Tanks
  • End Product Storage Tanks

Blending Tanks:

Blending is the process of mixing chemicals without changing the chemical composition. Blending Tanks utilize agitators and temperature control to blend ingredients. Common tanks types include:

  • Blending Tanks
  • High – shear Blending Tank
  • Jacketed Tank
  • Vacuum Tank

Synthesizing Tanks:

Synthesizing is the process of chemically reacting raw materials to create a new chemical compound.  This is the most complex reaction and involves processes like polymerization, esterification, or oxidation. Polymerization is used in the production of monomers to produce plastics, rubber or epoxy resins. Esterification is often used to produce fragrances, flavors, solvents, and plasticizers. Oxidation produces acids, ketones, and oxides used in solvents, intermediates and fuels. Synthesizing requires reactors such as:

  • Batch Reactors
  • Continuous Reactors
  • Polymerization Reactors

Steel Tanks:

Tate Metalworks is also capable of field erecting or shop fabricating other tank types to support the heating, cooling, mixing, blending, and distillation requirements of complex chemical processing projects. These include:

  • API Storage Tanks
  • Duplex Storage Tanks
  • Stainless Steel Storage Tanks
  • Distillation Columns
  • Towers
